“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: ” ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ ” -Matthew 22:36-39
In preparing to move back to Japan, overwhelmed by logistics, oppressed by doubts of my sanity and surrender of my life plans, God has been telling me one simple command: “LOVE”. Even better than just telling me He’s been showing me the power and potential of God’s people when they choose to love God and each other.
I feel like something’s about to happen in the Church, a revolution of love, a return to biblical revelation of what it means to be the body of Christ. There’s been too much clout, too much clutter, too much compromise in the name of “ministry effectiveness”, now it’s simply a time to love.
“Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.” 1 John 4:11-12
